October 22, 2026 - The 33rd Billboard Latin Music Awards aired live from the James L. Knight Center in Miami at 8 p.m. ET on Telemundo and Peacock, hosted by Carmen Villalobos and Javier Poza. Regional Mexican music shaped the night just as it shaped the finalists list, where Peso Pluma led with 17 nominations ahead of Tito Double P with 15, Fuerza Regida with 12 and KAROL G, the most-nominated woman, with nine. According to Telemundo's winner announcements, Peso Pluma and Tito Double P converted that lead into three wins for their joint album Dinastía and its single 'daño': Top Latin Album of the Year, Regional Mexican Album of the Year and the Hot Latin Song vocal collaboration award.
Fuerza Regida had the biggest single song of the night. 'Marlboro Rojo' won Hot Latin Song of the Year, Global 200 Latin Song of the Year and Streaming Song of the Year, and the group also received the Billboard Vanguard Award. They took the stage with Chuyin for 'Pues Ya Ni Pedo' and, in a post-award interview with Telemundo, admitted to being both nervous and grateful for the honour.
Rosalía had a three-trophy night. She won Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo and Top Latin Pop Album of the Year for LUX, and was inducted with the Billboard Hall of Fame Award. The night's other honorees were salsa great Rubén Blades, who received the Billboard Icon Award, and Cristian Castro, who accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award and performed 'Antes Que Te Cases' with Ha*Ash.
The performance slate leaned on Caribbean history as much as current charts. Wisin and Ivy Queen fronted a 'Universidad del Perreo' reggaeton segment built around 'Hasta Abajo', on the same night Wisin & Yandel won Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Ozuna performed 'Una Aventura' and 'Zizi', Víctor Manuelle and Elvis Crespo teamed up for 'La Gozadera', and Manuel Turizo debuted his new song 'Como Fuera'. NBCUniversal billed Erick Brian and Pututi & Nesty as the first time the Cuban reparto genre has been represented on the show's stage, alongside sets from Santos Bravos, La Nueva Ola de Cumbia, and Nanpa Básico with Melymel.
The emotional centrepiece was a tribute to Juan Gabriel marking 10 years since the Mexican singer-songwriter's death, led by Carlos Rivera and Pablo Alborán with Jessi Uribe, Paola Jara and Yahritza y Su Esencia, according to NBCUniversal. KAROL G's Fan Favorite Artist win, decided by online votes at Telemundo.com, came from a finalist field of Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma, Prince Royce and Tito Double P.

The Backspin HQ Perspective
The results so far confirm what the finalists list suggested in September: regional Mexican acts are now the commercial centre of Latin music, not a niche beside it. Fuerza Regida winning Hot Latin Song, Global 200 and Streaming Song with one track, in the same year they received the Vanguard Award, shows a band whose reach now runs well past the corridos audience, and Peso Pluma and Tito Double P taking both the overall and regional Mexican album awards with Dinastía makes the same point on the album side. Rosalía is the useful counterweight. Her Hall of Fame induction alongside two category wins for LUX shows that ambitious, left-field pop can still compete at the top of these charts. The new fan vote is the change to watch: putting KAROL G's name on a trophy decided by fans rather than chart data gives the show a direct line to its audience, and it is likely to become one of the most talked-about categories each year.
