POWDERFINGER ADD NINE 'ENCORE RUN' SHOWS TO 2027 AUSTRALIAN REUNION TOUR
Powderfinger have added nine final shows to their 2027 Australian reunion tour, billed as The Encore Run. The new dates run from November 5 at Melbourne Park Oval to two outdoor homecoming shows at Brisbane Showgrounds on December 10 and 11, with the band's first Hobart and Canberra dates of the run in between and Ocean Alley supporting both Perth nights. Presales open Wednesday, November 4 at 10am local time, and general on-sale is Thursday, November 5 at 11am local time.

October 30, 2026 - Powderfinger have announced The Encore Run, nine more dates for Powderfinger Live 2027, taking the reunion tour to 35 shows, according to Ticketmaster Australia and Noise11. The additions are two more nights at Melbourne Park Oval, two at Hobart's Cornelian Bay Oval, two at Sandalford Estate in Perth's Swan Valley, a single show at Stage 88 in Canberra and two outdoor shows at Brisbane Showgrounds that now close the tour. "When we saw how many people missed out on tickets, we knew we couldn't leave it there," Bernard Fanning said in the announcement. The Encore Run arrives two and a half weeks after the band confirmed its first tour since the 2010 Sunsets Farewell Tour.

The Backspin HQ Perspective
Powderfinger formed in Brisbane in 1989 and broke through nationally with their second album, Double Allergic, which peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA chart. Their next five studio albums, from Odyssey Number Five in 2000 to Golden Rule in 2009, all reached No. 1, and the band finished with 18 ARIA Awards and more than two million albums sold, according to InDaily. The 2010 Sunsets Farewell Tour drew more than 300,000 fans before closing in Brisbane.
The reunion has grown quickly. The first announcement on October 12 listed 18 dates, per The AU Review; demand has since pushed that to 26, and the Encore Run now takes it to 35. Hobart and Canberra were left off the original routing, and the closing Brisbane shows move outdoors at the Showgrounds rather than under the travelling big top used for the original run. The tour is partnered with Mission Australia.
