RECAP: BRYSON TILLER BRINGS ‘THE NEO TRAPSOUL TOUR’ TO VANCOUVER

Bryson Tiller returned to Vancouver on October 30, bringing The Neo Trapsoul Tour to Rogers Arena alongside Ty Dolla $ign and Majid Jordan. The concert marked Tiller’s fourth performance in the city and his first at Rogers Arena, following a festival appearance at Fvded in the Park in 2026, and two appearances at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in 2017 and 2024. Vancouver was stop 41 of the tour’s original 61 date itinerary and the penultimate performance of its 42 date North American leg, arriving one night after Portland before the run concluded November 1 in Seattle.

The tour takes its name from the sound Tiller established with TRAPSOUL, his 2015 debut that paired melodic R&B with hip hop production and remains heavily connected to his career more than a decade later. But the Vancouver bill reached well beyond one album or artist. Ty Dolla $ign and Majid Jordan brought their own catalogues and histories with the city, while collaborations connected all three performances before the night was over.
Ty Dolla $ign provided the first major opener of the evening. Performing one night before Halloween, he appeared in a white theatrical mask marked by dark streaks and an industrial jumpsuit featuring visible Slipknot branding and an Ozzy Osbourne graphic. Blue lighting filled the stage while masked figures appeared across the screens behind him, extending the look beyond the costume itself. The appearance marked Ty’s first documented Vancouver performance in more than eight years, following his February 2018 show at the Vogue Theatre.
Ty’s role also extended beyond his opening set. His career has long been defined by collaborations across R&B, hip hop and pop, which made his place on The Neo Trapsoul Tour a natural fit alongside Tiller. That connection became physical later in the night when he returned during the headline performance following ‘Wild Thoughts’ to perform ‘Or Nah’. Instead of disappearing from the concert once his own set finished, Ty became part of Tiller’s show as well, giving the bill one of its clearest crossover moments.

Majid Jordan returned with a Vancouver connection stretching back even further. Jordan Ullman appeared first, taking his place behind his production equipment and playing Drake’s ‘Feel No Ways’, a song he produced and co wrote for Views. Majid Al Maskati then joined him as the duo moved into ‘Have I Gone Too Far?’, shifting the focus from Jordan’s production history into their own catalogue.
Their appearance also arrived only two months after the release of Two Roads, Majid Jordan’s fifth studio album. While their opening sequence reached directly back into the OVO era that first brought them wider recognition, the duo arrived in Vancouver as an active group with another new record behind them. That balance between their production history, established catalogue and current era gave the set context beyond simply serving as another support slot before Tiller.
The date gave their return an unusually precise local connection. Majid Jordan made their Vancouver debut at the Alexander in December 2015 before moving to the Commodore Ballroom on October 30, 2016. Exactly ten years later, they were performing at Rogers Arena. Their city progression also included the Orpheum Theatre in 2018 and Vogue Theatre in 2023, making the 2026 appearance their fifth Vancouver performance and first at Rogers Arena.

Both members acknowledged the city during the set, but Jordan put that history into his own words near the end. “We love you, Vancouver, you were like one of our first fucking shows ever,” he told the audience. The comment lined up with a Vancouver history that began only a few years into Majid Jordan’s career and long before their first appearance on a Rogers Arena bill.
By the time Tiller took over, the show had already established several threads running through contemporary R&B. His own performance was divided into multiple sections, moving between his catalogue and songs tied to some of the collaborators who have surrounded his career. That became especially clear during a stretch built around ‘Wild Thoughts’, the 2017 DJ Khaled single featuring Rihanna and Tiller.
After ‘Wild Thoughts’, Ty Dolla $ign returned to the stage and performed ‘Or Nah’, bringing his earlier appearance directly into the headline portion of the concert. Tiller then returned with ‘Could’ve Been’, originally released by H.E.R. featuring Tiller, stopping to acknowledge her with a simple, “Shout out to H.E.R.”

That brief comment carried another connection with the city. H.E.R. had been part of Tiller’s 2nd Vancouver concert in August 2017, opening the Set It Off Tour alongside Metro Boomin at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Nine years later, Tiller was revisiting their collaboration during his first Rogers Arena show.
The collaboration thread continued before ‘Playing Games’. “Do you guys fuck with Summer Walker?” Tiller asked before performing the song, which originally appeared on Walker’s 2019 album Over It and later received an extended version featuring Tiller. The reference came only months after Summer Walker had brought her own arena tour to Rogers Arena in July.
None of those songs felt disconnected from the larger idea behind The Neo Trapsoul Tour. Tiller’s career has always existed between his own records and the collaborations surrounding them, and the Vancouver show used that history rather than treating the concert exclusively as a retrospective of TRAPSOUL. The older material remains essential, but songs connected to H.E.R., Summer Walker, Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Drake broaden the picture of what his catalogue has become since 2015.

One of the most personal moments happened later, after Tiller performed Drake’s ‘Finesse’. Before continuing, he stopped to acknowledge the change in scale from his previous visits. “You know this is the biggest show I did in Vancouver, man, so I just want to say thank you guys,” he told the crowd.
The comment directly reflected the progression in his local history. Tiller’s first Vancouver concert came at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on August 18, 2017 during the Set It Off Tour. He returned to the same venue in May 2024 before finally moving downtown to Rogers Arena in 2026. Rather than needing the venue progression interpreted for him, Tiller recognized it himself.
He then turned his attention toward the women in the audience. “Vancouver you got some bad ass thangs out here,” he said, following it with, “Beautiful ass women.” Female fans answered with cheers before Tiller immediately began ‘Whatever She Wants’, turning the exchange into a direct setup for one of the biggest songs from his 2024 self titled album.
That moment also showed why the strongest parts of the Vancouver show were not necessarily tied to elaborate production. The most useful details came from the artists recognizing where they were and allowing the city’s history with them to surface naturally. Majid Jordan looked back toward Vancouver as one of their earliest destinations. Tiller acknowledged reaching his biggest local stage. Ty Dolla $ign returned after his own set to connect directly with the headliner.
The lineup made those moments possible because each artist represents a different branch of the same broader era of R&B. Majid Jordan’s atmospheric production grew alongside OVO Sound. Ty Dolla $ign became one of the genre’s most prolific collaborators while building his own catalogue. Tiller’s T R A P S O U L helped push melodic R&B further toward trap production at a moment when those boundaries were already becoming increasingly difficult to separate.
More than a decade later, those careers intersected at Rogers Arena rather than simply occupying the same poster. Jordan Ullman’s ‘Feel No Ways’ introduction reached back into his work with Drake. Ty’s ‘Or Nah’ crossed into Tiller’s headline performance. Tiller then revisited collaborations with H.E.R. and Summer Walker before acknowledging the growth of his own Vancouver history.
With the North American portion now complete following the November 1 finale in Seattle, Tiller’s next announced performances take him to Bahrain on November 12 and Abu Dhabi on November 14. The original Neo Trapsoul Tour routing resumes November 17 in Zurich for 14 dates across Europe and the United Kingdom before continuing through Australia and New Zealand in January 2027, with the original 61 date itinerary concluding January 27 at Spark Arena in Auckland.
